Subject Organization

Precalculus is organized past content themes and further broken down into topics. Within each topic, questions are organized by leveled subtopics that increase in depth and difficulty every bit the student progresses.

Topics

Each theme contains a range of specific topics. For example, here is a list of topics inside our "Analytic Geometry and Conics" theme:

  • Quadratic Functions and Models
  • Polynomial Functions and Models
  • Polynomial and Synthetic Partition
  • Zeros of Polynomial Functions
  • Rational Functions
  • Nonlinear Inequalities

Subtopics

Each topic contains scaffolded subtopics we call "levels". A typical topic will brainstorm with many piece of cake, skill-based questions in "Level i". As the levels increase, question ratios will shift towards more than moderate and difficult questions with more than real-life applications and conceptual practice.

Using Standards to Find Questions

We know math teachers are often looking for exercise questions that align to specific standards.

Here is a listing of all the types of standards currently included in our Algebra 1 content, as well as the specific standard formatting we use:

Using Tags to Detect Questions

In improver to standards, Precalculus questions include tags to help differentiate the wide diversity of questions we offer.

Here is a list of all the types of tags currently included in our Algebra 1 content:

Question Types

Core Math uses 5 question types on Albert.

Difficulty Level of Questions

Each question on Albert is marked equally piece of cake, moderate, or hard. These difficulty levels are assigned based on a variety of factors, including:

  • The number of steps required to solve the problem
  • How close the distracting choices are to the correct answers

Skill Practice

Based on teacher feedback, we've added Skill Practice subtopics to relevant Foundations of Algebra topics. These Skill Do questions requite students the at-bats they need to develop procedural fluency.
